Rain is over

Color change is on an accelerated track now. Deities are going wild with nature's paint brushes ... a swipe here, a swoop there. A palette that is unmatched. I get so much grief on Insta and Tumblr for saying summer is SO boring, just shades of green. Autumn is my time. This is my place. This is my current muse.

I mean, c'mon. My God. The beauty is increasing hour by hour, day by day. I swear, I'm thinking of setting up a tripod on a phalanx of green aspen, to track the yellowing over hours of the day. I don't have the equipment with me this year, but next year, the idea is a must.

This immaculate complexity. I think of Thomas Jefferson's "Nature's God". That's what is here. You feel it everywhere. Mixes of shapes, shades that no sane person would ever combine ... yet WORK.

The near, contrasted with the far. I'm not big on purely geological peaks; living in NM, I've seen my fill of rocks. But the subtle colorings of these peaks in Colorado. You see greens, reds that you don't see often. The shadings appear and disappear as the light shifts directions, intensities.

Right now, I feel I was more successful last year (see images in the Portfolio, above, Colorado). But I'm feeling better about these as I progress towards peak. Stay tuned!
