Driving south

The local cowpokes use a caboose for an overnight stop, as they manage the herds on the large ranches south of Galisteo on 41. This is on the west side of the road. These ridges - I call them 'dragonbacks' - the rock outcroppings on the tops are covered in petroglyphs. This area has more ruins than Chaco; they just reside on private lands. A very populated area in the 1300's.
